From Vision to Cake: Client Stories

Creating Edible Works of Art for KitchenAid

The Challenge: Turning Appliances into Edible Art

When KitchenAid approached me, they had an exciting challenge: make cakes that look exactly like their iconic appliances—a range, a refrigerator, and a stand mixer– to demonstrate that anything is possible with KitchenAid. These cakes needed to be hyper-realistic, structurally sound, and camera-ready for online ads and social media.

The Request: KitchenAid’s Vision

KitchenAid envisioned a "baking inception"—using their appliances to create edible replicas of themselves. The mission was clear: craft something unforgettable that celebrates the kitchen as a space for joy, discovery, and creativity, all brought to life with KitchenAid appliances.

The Process: Crafting Culinary Masterpieces

Stand Mixer Cake

The KitchenAid stand mixer is a beloved icon for home bakers worldwide. Replicating this recognizable design meant perfecting every detail — scale, colour, and shape. After multpile tests, I nailed the exact Hibiscus shade (the colour of the year) and meticulously measured the real mixer to recreate it in cake form. Hearing the crew say the light hit my cake just like the real thing confirmed I had nailed it.

The Fridge Cake

Any seasoned cake artist knows that achieving perfectly straight sides and sharp angles is one of the toughest challenges. For this hyper-realistic fridge, I used chocolate ganache for a smooth, sturdy finish and precision carpentry tools to ensure every corner was a flawless 90 degrees. The result was a cake so convincing, it looked like you could open the door and store miniature groceries inside.

The Range Cake

The knobs, handle, and burners posed a unique challenge: they needed to maintain their shape while seemingly defying gravity. Each piece was crafted with precision, ensuring the knobs stayed firmly in place and could even turn — just like a real oven! The result was not just a visually stunning cake but one that captured the functionality and essence of the real KitcnenAid appliance.

The Outcome:

Picture-Perfect Cakes

The cakes stole the show in KitchenAid’s campaign, surprising viewers with their stunning detail and delicious interiors. From dramatic close-ups to slicing reveals, the cakes added an unexpected layer of delight to the ads.
